The Cult return to the Denver area in 2027 as special guests on A Perfect Circle’s spring North American tour. Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy bring more than four decades of material to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 27, pairing one of alternative rock’s most atmospheric venues with a catalog that moves from post-punk and gothic rock into hard rock. The Red Rocks date is part of a broader U.S. run with A Perfect Circle and gives Colorado fans a chance to hear The Cult in a large outdoor setting rather than a smaller theater or club.
The Cult Join A Perfect Circle at Red Rocks
The Cult are scheduled to perform at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 27, 2027 as special guests for A Perfect Circle. Doors are scheduled for 6:00 PM, with the show beginning at 7:30 PM.
The pairing works particularly well for fans of darker alternative rock: The Cult’s catalog connects gothic and post-punk roots with the heavier guitar sound they developed on albums such as Electric and Sonic Temple.
Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy Remain at the Center
The identity of The Cult still revolves around vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, the two musicians who carried the band from its early Death Cult roots into international rock success.
Their best-known songs span very different sides of the band, from the atmosphere of “She Sells Sanctuary” and “Rain” to the harder edge of “Love Removal Machine,” “Wild Flower” and “Fire Woman.”
The Cult After Under the Midnight Sun
The band’s most recent studio album, Under the Midnight Sun, arrived in 2022 and showed that The Cult were still interested in mood and texture rather than simply recreating their late-1980s sound.
By the time of the 2027 Red Rocks date, the group will be balancing that later material with the songs that made Astbury and Duffy one of the most recognizable partnerships in British alternative and hard rock.
